cutout placement

I have been thinking about picking up an exhaust cutout for some time and was wondering where would be the best place to put it. Currently, I have pacesetter headers into a Y-pipe leading into a gutted cat, stock I-pipe, and flowmaster 80 series. Any input would be great. thanks

place the cut-out behind the cat. this will allow a good hard sound but not make it sound like it will blow up. this is where i put mine and it sounds bad

th only place to put it is right after the y-pipe. the purpose of a cutout is to provide unrestricted exhaust flow; therefore you want to place it before any muffler or cat. placing it anywhere else defeats the purpose of a cutout. if the you were running dual exhaust, you would put each cutout right after the header collectors, before any cat or muffler.

ive got one. gonna place it right where the cat was. when i got my car it didnt have a cat on it and thats the way its stayin. i agree with darbleinad. putting a cutout after the cat is a total waste.

Hey guys, thanks for all the input. As far as the placement after the cat goes, i don't think it truly defeats the purpose of the cutout b/c as i mentioned in my first post, my cat is completely hollow. What i may do is have a pipe made to fit where the cat is now and weld it into there. I was wondering if anyone who has one placed before the cat noticed any considerable fumes in their car. Other than that, i really appreciate your help guys. thanks

Donnie

even if the cat is gutted, put it before the cat or remove the gutted cat and replace it with the cut-out. a gutted cat is not a good a straight piece of pipe.

actually i read an article about how gutted cats create a more cyntrifigal(i think) flow created better flow than a regular straight pipe.
