Smashed Pipes
Smashed Pipes
I have a '91 Formula 350. The crossover pipes (it has headers and instead of one crossover pipe it has two smaller ones. They don't collect until then get over to the passengers side) is smashed up. I bought the car used and it looks like someone must have bottomed out at one point or another because one of the crossover pipes is smashed pretty bad and the oil pan has creases in it. Other that fuel mileage and performance will it hurt the engine to run it like this until I can get it fixed? Also can the oil pan be replaced easily without taking the engine out? Any information would be appreaciated. Thanks.
b.t.w. If any one knows what brand headers these are please let me know. I can't seem to find the manufacturer.

I don't think it will really hurt anything. Just try to get it fixed as soon as possible. For removing and replacing the oil pan you will most likely have to loosen the exhaust for added clearance and you will have to take out the front engine mount bolt and raise up the engine some. I think you will have to take out the starter too.

Blade - thanks for correcting me, I was in a rush yesterday, I have no idea why I put that, since obviously we have to front mount bolt since the engine is not a transverse engine.
