OK, I'm stumped. This is a stupid question but what the hell is an exhaust cut out? I saw a picture of one and drew a total blank. How do these things work?

------------------
'88 IROC 305 TPI
Crappy 700R4 slushbox
Gutted airboxes
180 degree T-stat
Advanced base TPS voltage
Relocated IAT sensor
Momo steering wheel (gotta luv it)
Ram-air setup coming soon
Flowmaster muffler (puke)
Taylor SpiroPro wires
Accel cap and rotor
Ported plenum
Kills: '94 Z28, Olds Aurora V8, bunch of Mustangs, T-birds, ricers, and others who assumed a 12 year-old car would be too slow.

An exhaust cut-out is like a 'mini y-pipe' that is welded into your system inline before performance restricting mufflers and converters. You can run the cut-out in the open or closed (corked or uncorked) position. When it is open, it is similar to running straight headers... when closed, you run your full exhaust system.
