If you've GOT to replace it, mine as well go 3". But for anything under 400 HP or so, I don't see a TRUE 2.5" pipe as much of a restriction. And this comes from my exhaust guy who's been doing custom exhaust on street and race cars for a good while. He talked a friend of mine OUT of a 3" true dual system on his truck, in favor of a 2.5" system.
