hooker cat-back

hooker cat-back

I plan on buying a hooker cat-back system in the near future and i was wondering how difficult is the instillation and does it have to be welded? thanx

Well the cat back hooks right up to the old cat, and if you don't want to, you won't have to weld, you can clamp it all, but i've heard that welding it, will make it sound better. if you don't know how to weld, go to a local shop, they will do it for pretty cheap most likely.

The kit comes with all of the hardware to mount it, clamps and hangers. I clamped mine together and so far I don't have any leaks and it sounds fine. Its only been on about 3 months but so far so good. I'm not sure how well it connects to the existing cat, I had to make an offroad pipe, but I assume it should work fine. The hardest part is getting the old system out but it's not to bad. Good luck

Its noticeably louder than stock depending on what other exhaust mods you have and what size cam you are running. I have headers and a big cam so mine is really loud. But my friend with his 85 Z28 its louder than stock, but not too loud. IMO, its the best cat-back of the medium priced ones!
