i think i am going to try and use the "dead soft" aluminum gaskets. the concept of them are good, with them not blowing out i mean. has anyone used these?

I used the SCE Copper Gaskets on my TES's and they worked great. I wouldn't use the ones that the TES's come with, I heard they bust easily.

I have had the headers on the car for 2 years now, It is just that the last time I swapped motors the ones I put on where just regular manifold gaskets and I think they are leaking.
The aluminum gaskets are the best! Better than copper on sealing irregular surfaces. 12,000 miles on mine without a retorque. Skimping on gaskets now means a big waste of time and money in the furture since changing gaskets on 3rd gens is a PIA. Percy's dead soft for SBC square port around $35 in Jegs/Summit

Agreed about the alum gaskets. Got a set of Percys two years ago and haven't touched them since - with paper it was every couple months. They won't shrink or crack or blowout, but are still soft enough to conform. Dunno about the coppers...
