I plan on doing dual exhaust. I want to run dual exhaust to side pipes, say with a 4th gen exhaust tip dumping on both sides infront of the rear tires.

Any ideas/suggestions?

BTW I installed some Edelbrock TES's.

I can't offer you any suggestions, but would like to hear your impression of the edelbrock headers and how the install went. I'm seriuosly thinking about the edelbrock nickle plated headers from Jeg's for my 87 305/tpi 5 spd car.

And I am also curious on what cam you chose and how you like it.

It's a mild comp cam, I'd have to call my engine builder to get the specs. But, with the few mods I have, I don't have any problems keeping up/beating stock 5.7s.

My experience with the headers sucked. My steering shaft was completely in the way, why? I don't really know. It took tons and tons of prying and pushing to get the damn driver side header in....But most people don't experience the same problem I did.

I understand about the installation problem with the drivers side. I'm prepared for that now I guess. With my luck I'll probably have a really hard time of it.

Anyway, now that you have your car together and running, what do you think of the fit, finish, and performace of the edelbrock headers on your 305? And, did you get the nickle plated ones headers, or the painted set?

I got them for free from my engine builder. It's winter, and I do not have my car on the road.

I have the same headers on my car, and I love them. I only have a couple complaints. First, changing plugs is now a pain in the a$$, and second you can barely see them through all the emissions and other crap on the top of the motor. I had no problem at all with the left side on the install, I did remove the steering shaft for clearance though. I didn't have to bang on anything to get mine in. On the right side, I had to trim the flywheel cover and the bellhousing a bit to get the right one in. You shouldn't have that problem since you have a 5 speed. After installation, I noticed a big difference in performance. Just for the record, my brother's IROC used to be a 305, and he also noticed a big improvement in performance when he put the headers on. I don't know what the price difference is between the uncoated and coated headers is now, but if it's more than $150, get the uncoated ones and have JetHot coat them. JetHot gets about $180 for their coating, but it is worth twice that. It gives you a lifetime warranty if you send them new headers and it reduces underhood temps dramaticly. My truck has uncoated headers on it and it is scalding hot under the hood after a drive (it is almost too hot to check the oil), my GTA doesn't have even half the airflow through the engine bay and it is nowhere near that hot.

so since you are gonna run dual exhaust you didnt install the ypipe?

The edelborck headers from Jeg's are $341.99 for the nickel plated set, plus a $8 oversize shipping charge. I called Jet Hot and they are $560 for the hookers shipped to my door. So about $200 more. It's tough to swallow that extra $200. I know how good coatings are since I have coated headers on my 55 chevy. But still I could do a lot for the $200 I save on the headers from Jeg's.

Anyway, Dan88IROCZ,I wasn't trying to steal your post, it just kind of worked out this way. I'll shut up now and hope that somone answers your original question.

Alloy-I didn't mean the price difference between Hookers & Edels. I meant coated vs uncoated from Jegs. I bought mine uncoated from Summit (free shipping and usually 4 cents cheaper) and sent them to JetHot on my own. I didn't get the y-pipe coated, just the headers and it cost me about $175 or $180 total. Check out Summit before you order from Jegs, they are usually a bit faster too (2 days instead of 4).
