hooker header clearence with pass. frame??

I have an 88 camaro with a 350, vortec heads, and carb. car used to be 305 tbi. i am in the process of installing hooker competion (2460) headers and everything was simple, except for the fact of the passenger side header is up against frame rail on that side. what could be the cause of this?? motor mounts or is there anything else that possibly would cause this??

Motor mounts and also the tranny mount "could" cause it. Check them out.

thanks for the reply, i am going to replace the motor mounts with some solid mounts that i have from a previous project and replace the trans mount and see if that helps any.

p.s. does anyone know an easy way to replace the motor mounts? the last time i did it while the suspension was apart and that looks like the only way to get to the nuts inside the frame.

That is the easy way, unfortunately.

Defective header?

It is also possible that you have a defective header. Do confirm that your motor mounts are not the problem, and if the header still hits the frame get the manufacturer to replace it. Try to get a header from a different production run too. You will need to have the date off the manufacturer packaging to be certain of that.

No one in manufacturing learns anything if you don't give them feedback about their product. Just try to keep it constructive.
