One of my friends got a brand new 2001 SS. This car is wicked!! Frickin' fast too.

I really like the exhaust tone though, it has an almost ferrari touch on the interior noise. Anyone know how to accomplish this tone without having to actually buy an entire SS-exhaust?

 

well you are hearing a bit more than the muffler. IF you look into the ls1 motor it is pretty bad *** for a stock motor. big cam, free breathing heads. the heads on the ls1 flow as well as alot of after market heads and with a cam around .500 lift and pretty big duration. I have not heard any exhaust that will make you thirdgen sound as good as a new ss just because your motor can't sound like that. three inch pipe and a 40seris fowmaster will make it sound a bit rowdy though. my dad did that to his and it sounds really good. he just did it himself it wasn't the system. I have a borla and have heard the edelbrock, flowmaster, dynomax, hooker and I don't think they sound as good as the new ss. plust he throttle response the the ls1 is way better so when you rev it it picks up faster.
