no mufflers
i bought an 89 rs about a year ago and it has new pipes from the cat back, but there are no mufflers. what are the advantages/disadvantages?
Theres 2 advantages to the no muffler setup.
1: more top end hp 3000rpm to whatever you can turn.
2: Better fuel economy, but not anything really noticeable.
Disadvantages.
1: The back pressure loss from idle to 3000 rpm. Less tourqe. for some odd reason i've noticed that cars with turbo mufflers have alot more pedal in the crusing rpm range than ones with less restrictive setups like glasspacks or no mufflers.
