Which headers = easiest install?

Four into ones I know are the rule b/c of the F-Bodys limited space, but of all the four tubes which one has the concensus been on ease of install? Also, would 'blockhugger' style headers be an option or do you think they might be a little dangerous as far as the crowded engine compartment - cause I know theyre intended for streetrods with little to no street driven accesories.

My Accel's went in very easily. Connecting the y-pipe to the collector was a whole other story.

My hedmans went in easy, I had to relocate the coolant tube on the left side though, Y pipe sucked to assemble.

Heres the thing - I want an exhaust system that is brand consistent and more specifically I have my sight on Dynomax all the way - dymx jet hot coated 1 & 5/8, dymx super-cat, & dymx catback w/ one of thier mufflers.

I was looking at the dymx headers and thought they looked like a good snug set of 4into1 headers. Any of you know them to install easily? GMHTP mag said thier shop didnt have much trouble with them.

my edelbrock's were pretty easy to install. they went in without many problems. just a few scratches on a couple of the tubes.

my SLPs? don't even ask....

My Edelbrock headers went in easy, y-pipe wasn't bad at all.

well, they ar just plain bigger, which makes them harder to fit in the same spot. the primaries on my SLPs that i have now are 1-3/4". the WHOLE length of the primary. the edelbrock (junk if you ask me) ones are like 1-1/2" a lot of the time instead of the advertised 1-5/8". the passenger side ones for both went in pretty easily for me, but then again i dont have anything there (no ac, no heater hoses, no emmisons stuff), but the driver's side is a pain with both, and worse with the SLPs.

the SLPs also hit my steering shaft on the (if i remember right) number 3 cylinder tube. not everyone runs into this problem, but i did. it depends on a few things i guess...mainly the condition of your motor mounts.

the y-pipes on the two are similarly a pain in the butt to put on. once you do ita couple times though, you get used to it and it's easy. you just need the help of another person, or a small jack that you can use to position the pipes in the right spots while you tighten the bolts.

the SLPs are FAR superior product, without a doubt. the only person i would reccomend edelbrock's TES to is somebody who just wants headers, and doesn't plan on doing much else to the car. i just think that they are a waste of time and money if you plan on doing a lot of things downthe road. just my opinion, but if you look at the SLPs right next to the TES, you will probably agree.

Heh, I've had my Hooker 2055's sitting in my room since JULY! I'm scared to try to put them on myself. Looks like a real PITA, especially without power tools. I might have to collect change until I can have my shop put them on. Can I do it in the driveway in a weekend?

i've only had edelbrock and hooker longtubes, and i must say that everything is easier with the long tubes. they have to go in from the bottom but they slip right through. tune ups take me a matter of minutes, not over an hour. plus no more burnt wires on the passenger side. i can't tell you how many wires i fried because the edelbrocks were so tight. and the y-pipe is a biznitch on em too.

If the guy wants to run Dynomax parts and Dynomax parts alone, that's his prerogative. It's his car.

there is nothing that anybody can do to their car that bothers me. i think that you shouldnt say i want the best exhaust system possible, but one catch it has to be all dynomax. what if the best headers arent dynomax, what if they are but the best cat is a carsound one? what if there was a magical new muffler that made more power then a dynomax? see, you are going to have to make compromises if you want a all dynomax exhaust. hooker does not make cats IIRC, so that rules out their headers and cat-back...

The hooker 2055s fit right in from the top. I had my uncle help me with the y pipe and that was on in about 10 minutes.

My edelbrock headers were easy to install but I also had problems with them destroying plug wires. Good luck!
