What full exhaust system for my setup
I know many of these things have been covered and I could search for them, but it's difficult putting it all together, you know? Hopefully you guys will take a little sympathy on me and not scream "SEARCH BUTTON!" Anyways, here goes:
Got a 350 TPI, and will have a T56 from an 4thgen and Spohn SFC's. Here's what I need and my concerns:
I really want to get a full system including Hooker SC longtubes and mate it to a good exhaust system. The current system and the dual cats are going in the trash, so I won't call the system I need a "catback".
Note: I've considered running true duals but I hear that there's not much chance of being able to do this with a street car because of the clearance. Is this true?
Anyways, my concerns are:
1) I searched about clearance issues with the hooker LT's but come up with conflicting accounts. My car will be stock height and will be street driven, speedbumps and all. Obviously, jamming the tubes against the motor on speedbump is not good, so I need a definitive answer on whether or not these LT's on my streetcar are plausible.
2) Assuming the LT's are possible, I hear there are issues with fitting, especially with a T56 in our cars. Again, I'd like to know definitively what needs to be done to get them to fit from someone who knows. This includes issues with the starter, a/c system, floorpan, and T56, etc.
3) Again, assuming I get the hooker LT's, what's the best exhaust system to mate to it, and how should it be done - like which y-pipe will mate a certain system and the LT's.
4) If anybody out there has done what I'm proposing (I'm assuming many have), it would be most appreciated to have someone guide me on how to go about it! (especially alerting me to issues I haven't mentioned)
Last but not least, if anybody knows a way to do true duals with the LT's and not sacrifice ground clearance, all the above concerns are moot.
Thank you guys for your time and patience with this, basically I want the best exhaust system I can get that will work on a street-driven car. If that means disregarding everything I've said and showing me a better, different way, then great!
Thanks again.

I would guess that your ground clearance problems will start with the use of long tubes, while true duals are more of a routing problem (reduced ground clearance is a shortcut to solving the routing issue).
Until you get to the "extensive modifications/high power" catagory, LT's really aren't that beneficial. And, "limited use" is probably another catagory to add to the "wait for long tubes" checklist. SLP's with dual cats will more than likely fulfill your needs.
Of course, someone will respond, "I have SC LT's with no ground clearance problems..." Ask them if they've ever attempted to negotiate a speed bump...

well the hedman longtubes arent the clearance problem...its the way i actually routed my exhaust. I havent tried a speed bump yet but i have no ground clearance at all. I think getting new springs might help alot tho I have stock ones still. duals sounds great but kill ground clearance. I still drive mine everyday you just have to be careful.

As long as you route it the right way and are careful on large bumps (you will get to know the roads you travel well and know how fast you can go where) you'll be fine. I have duals on mine and it's my almost daily driver (except winter) and I don't have any problems becasue I know the roads I drive on. BTW, I'm still not brave enough to go over a speed bump....

I unfortunately don't have any pics of my setup yet. I took pics, but I misplaced the roll of film it was on. I'll look around for it some more and when I find it I'll post a thread.
