I have a ’91 Formula with the 350. I would like to remove the smog system and CAT. I wold also like to run the exhaust out each side in front of the rear tires. I was figuring on running a pipe from each header back then out the side with a crossover pipe somewhere in the middle. Has anyone tried this and if so how did it work. As for the muffler, I am still unsure of. I think I am going to need to keep the pipes fairly close to the underbody and that doesn’t leave much room for a muffler. I did see some inserts in Summit that go in the collectors from the headers and keep the noise at a reasonable level. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

 

I have equal length heddman headers, cherry bombs (sound like crap, but they were on the shelf at the time), and duals on my 85 IROC. I ran the pipes tight as i could to the undercarriage and straight back. The pipes exit in front of the rear tires. It performs good, but I have had some problems with ground clearance at times.

Ive done it to. ran them off equal length headman headers than out in front of the rear tires I had to make a crossmember so the glass packs would be high enough off the ground. I have napa baffled glass packs, quite restrictive but not too loud.Im going to get cutouts for it though.
