Hooker and other header choices

OK guys, I need to start planning on an exhaust for my 84Z before I get the motor ready, so I started looking through my Summit last night. Now, I saw the Hooker Super Comp (shorties) in the upper $300 range that came with a Y-pipe. Right now, that sounds pretty good.

But, I also saw the Hooker Competition shorties for $139, and I'm assuming this is without a Y-Pipe. Does Hooker make a Y-Pipe for the Comp header? I'm not too worried about it hooking up to my stock exhaust, because that's going off soon.

Also, what about the full lengths? From what I hear, they compromise ground clearance a little bit too much, and since mine will eventually be lowered 1"-1.5", I don't want the headers scraping on every little bump.

Also, what do you suggest for an exhaust? I was thinking about the 3" Flowmaster system, but I'd like to go with something a little bit bigger. The motor out of my truck (which will soon be in the Camaro), likes to rev up to about 6000-6200, and I think the 3" will just be a little bit small. What do you think about the Mufflex 4"?

Anyway, I know that was a lot of questions... Thanks

I asked Hooker about the seperate y-pipe, they said no.

I haven't checked for over a month, but last I checked the Hooker shorties w/y-pipe were $349.99 from Summit. With their handling fee, that's less than $360.

Yeah, I'm thinking that the SuperComps are the way to go. I've had enough with cheap headers. The hedmans on my truck are leaking out of everywhere, I know that hedmans would be a lot cheaper than the Hookers, but they're also built a lot cheaper. I think I'm going with Hookers when the time comes, and then maybe a Mufflex 4" Catback...
