Is it worth it to put on headers, while still having a restrictive Y-pipe?

Yes, it will be worth it in the long run. Also, what headers are you planning on buying? The only reason that I ask is because "most" headers for our cars are sold with a Y-pipe included. Now if they don't come with a y-pipe, you might want to contact the manufacturer of the headers to make sure that they will bolt up to the stock y-pipe after install. If not, you may be in for a lot of fun making it fit. Hope that helps!
