well i may get a LT1 for the ol TA and it struck me. 305 exaust probaby wont work for a 350... well now i have a delema. i want to get the exaust done right, but i dont want to spend over $200 for it. i figgure ill keep it single and run it through a normal cat and regualr muffler. think i can do it? dont get me wrong, i would love to have some headers and dual but i need to focus my money elsewhere. (specifically headers for my vette already has dual so im set there.)

the exaust for a 305 will work for a 350 since they are both small block chevy v8s but you will be choking the hell out of it. On the upside, after you get the LT1 in the gains from headers will be that much greater. On the downside again, installing headers when you swap the engine in would be the best time to do it.

Well i was thinking that since i have 2" piping from the maifolds all the way back, if i tried the LT1, it would chock the hell out of it as you say. im thinking if i up it to 2.5" piping with a LT1 cat (specifically for the beefy sound) to the stock muffler would be good. im just wondering if it would be dooable for under $200. are there any piping kits?

I should have the same 2.25" stock exaust as you do. If you want a cheap catback, dynomax has one for $150 that is mandrel bent 2.5" to a dual outlet muffler.

edit: $134, even better for you. I did some research
