Cutout Placement
Cutout Placement
I recently ordered an electric exhaust cutout and had a question about its placement. I originally planned on dropping my cat out and welding a pipe in with the cutout in its place directly after the Y-pipe. However, i was told that this may cause the car to bog down and lose low end power? Is this the case and would i be better off placing it further down the I pipe towards the muffler? thanks

mine is where the cat used to be it really isn't going to matter where you put it (as far as power is concerned) if it is between the y-pipe and the muffler, I put it so that the cut out portion faced straight back, instead of slanted to the side

I have my cutout in place of my cat and felt no difference between the two. The car will be louder the closer the cutout is the the manifolds/headers.

I used to have my cutout on the I-pipe just before it goes over the axel. Made absolutely no difference whatsoever, no improvement in ET or MPH. Loud as hell though.
