Done with Hedman Full length into dual Dynomax Bullets
This past weekend I installed my full length hedman headers, into a pair of x-tensions, down into some 2 1/2" Dynomax Bullets...It all went fairly well.
I had to chop off the little ear on the drivers side of the tranny, where the dust shield bolts up. Removed the oil filter, and the pressure switch that threads into the side of the block above the filter.Took a little off the Rear A-Arm mount, so the primary
wouldnt come into contact with it, and had the engine about 2 inches off the engine mounts.
The pass. side actually went a lot easier than the drivers side...With the engine jacked up maybe 2 inches from the mounts, I was able to just ease it in from the underside of the car with little problems, and no cutting.
The X-tensions worked out well for me, But the drivers side came out just a little kicked out, which I was able to correct with a little angle on the 2 1/2" pipe I welded up to it...From there, I made a crossover with a 2 1/2" Hole saw, and a drillpress.
I ran that into the 2 1/2" Dynomax Bullet Racing mufflers, and from those, I cut and rewelded the pipe to about a 45* angle on either side, and exit just infront of the rear wheels.
It sounds just awsome on my stock LO3, but I havent been able to take it out for a drive yet, due to all the snow, and ice up here, not as loud as I thought it would be, but maybe my opinion will change when I actually have to drive for long periods of time.
The ground clearance is also an issue, I have very little where the pipes exit from under the car, which Im willing to deal with for now..It wouldnt have been as bad if I just dumped in front of the axle.
I dont have any pics, due to the fact I dont have a scanner, or digital camera..
I also didnt have time to get a sound clip, because the car is about 50 miles away at my father in-laws shop.
But I will get some sounds from it as soon as I can, to let everyone know how the bullets sound.

hmmmm
i see you had the same prob with the a arm mount......... i clearenced mine and the damn header just moved right over and sat against it anyway.... but clearence everywhere else is ok... go figure.......
i'm putting my muffler right after the tranny crossmember... my h pipe goes paralell with the tranny crossmemer..... so all i had to do is use some c clamps and bolt it to it......
mine sounds like it has flowmasters without them lol...... thyr'e wide open right now....

Do you have the stock motor mounts? Not sure if it would help, but mine are stock, and Ive got the same problem, only I cant remove anything else from the A-arm mount.
Perhaps poly mounts would raise the engine just enough to give the primary room, without any contact...
