Power Effects Muffler?
Power Effects Muffler?
Has anyone had or heard a Power Effects capsule muffler? I've read about them in the past and think they'd make a cool exhaust note. It being tunable is a plus. Does anyone know price range for them? I know where the company is located, but I haven't seen these mufflers advertised in Summit,Jegs, etc. Who carries them? Or would I have to order from the factory?
I've got a Flowmaster crossflow and want something a little louder(even though I like the sound from the FM). I'm debating between a FM 40series, Dynomax bullet, or Power Effects. What I like about FM is that there isn't any packing to burn out.

i used to own a corvette and i know u can buy those power effects for corvettes i an eckler's catalogue. they are tunable electronically from a remote control and are very expensive(i think around $1000).

Thanks for the info. The one that I saw in a magazine(Super Chevy, Feb. '97) had a **** on the muffler that opens and closses a butterfly inside the muffler. Maybe that type is a bit more affordable(hopefully a lot more). I could understand a grand for an entire dual exhaust with tips(but, I think it's a cat-back system). The mag had an article on comparing the sounds from different brand mufflers and rated them. There was also an article in the mag about a corvette with this system.
I don't know how much just a single would run, but if it's under a $150 I think that it'd be worth it(that's debatable). The quality of the muffler looks top-notch, and the sound judges liked the sound. But, add the labor, pipe, etc. It's probably cheaper to get a system done with FM's or Dynomax mufflers.
