CAT question
CAT question
I am looking at replacing the entire exhaust system on my '91 Formula 350. The previous owner must have really bottomed the car out because the crossover pipes are severely crushed. It hit so hard that the crossover pipes crumpled the bottom of the oil pan. It currently has dual CATs on it. I am wondering if I should take them out completely or go with one really good single CAT? If I remove them will it mess up the reading that the O2 sensor sees? Also I live in Illinois and we don't have emmission testing, but what if I trade the car in? Is it illegal for the dealer to resell the car without all the factory emmisions equipment on it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I will be replacing my entire exhaust as well pretty much once this quarter is over, I went with two new hi flow Catco cats from Summit for like $120 for the pair, but I have emissions and need to keep the cats

Hey I live in Il, matter of fact I rode with a state cop yesterday and I asked him some questions.
It is illegal to change your stock exhaust in anyway, but he said he would do it in a heart beat as long as its not deafening loud. He said a cop probably wouldn't even look.
If you have to take your car in for exhaust work and you don't have a cat they are supposed to report you for a ticket (hardly anyone does). good luck, hope this helps, I say go for it.
