Dealer messed up..should I leave it??
Dealer messed up..should I leave it??
I went to the dealer to get my srping oil change and they noticed a crack in my intermediate pipe. I asked them to put a new O.M.E. exhaust from the cat back. He said he would have to order the parts I said fine. He called me back and told me that if I was interested, he could put a Dynomax cat back system on for more performance. He said the cost would not be much different. I told him no just go with the factory replacement. The service guy was going on vacation and said I would get a call when the parts came in. Today I got a call and took my car in. When I picked it up, I noticed it was louder then when I dropped it off. Guess what, Ttey installed the Dynomax system by mistake.
It was my intent to keep the car stock. My question is should I make the dealer put the OME system on or keep it as is? What do you guys think?

It's a third gen! There's no point in keeping it stock. We could be nuked by the Chinese, and our cars would still not be rare/valuable. Keep the Dynomax!

I hate it when someone sneaks on a free flow exhaust over the crap factory setup,,, damm the bad luck
Just a tidbit too,,, next year the 82 3rd gens will be able to license as classice autos (they are 20 years old,,, times are changing even tho we don't accept all the changes)

I agree that you should have gone with what you got. But,,,,you were willing to buy the original. And that is what you should have been sold. If you can document that you requested the GM system, the dealer has no choice but to put it on, or give you what you got for free. Free sounds good to me. As a dealership employee, I find it odd as to what occurred. Normally, most dealers WANT to use GM parts, and to boot,,,no one wants to do exhuast in the first place. In a nutshell,,,live with what you have,,but kindly ask for some concessions for thier screw up.
