Are my converters still good?

I have 40,000 miles on my original converters how do I tell if they are still good? I have to get smogged soon so if it passes does that mean they are okay. Is it possible to have clean emissions but the cats still not giving best perfomance? Thanks for any info.

Yah you can pass a smog test.I just built an engine put the old exaust back on and when I rev the car pieces of the cat fall out of the tail pipe and it still past the smog test easily.unless you have an old engine or problems with your fuel injection system you should pass.My CO-% was .36, HC-ppm was 24, and the NO-ppm was 229.check out my engine combo on my web site.link down below.
