AIR help

I currently own an 88 Iroc 350 tpi. Headers were put on it 2 years ago and the Air injection system was removed. I need to reinstall it to pass emissions!!! I have the air pump but there are no air tubes on my headers, it was suggested that i could run the air injection directly into the collector pipe. is this possible or will it not be effective?? I was told that doing so may force too much air into the exhaust. does anyone know what i can do short of buying new headers with air tubes???
Thanks

I'm currently doing this. I'm piping the air directly to the y-pipe/collector instead of going to each primary. I don't see any way this will be "too much air" but we'll see. If you are subject to an underhood check this may or may not pass - supposedly ANY modification to your emissions gear will fail you. If you have an understanding/knowledgeable/uncaring tech you may be able to 'splain what you did and get by - but again, it's an unknown.

It's a 1/2" pipe - hose actually. I'm also running hose to a length of pipe for the cat as well.
