Cheap but acceptable coated shorty headers

I have a question: is there an acceptable set of coated shorty headers for a low price? Naturally, the most expensive ones will flow the best, but I'm not down for spending 600-700 bucks on a set of SLP's if its just a miniscule difference. I'd just like to get the headers out of the way without too much fuss so I can focus on my engine, but I don't have loads of cash to invest in them. I was thinking somewhere around $250-400 range. Are there decent shorties to be had for this coated?

Hope this isn't too common a question for you guys, its just that searching has become so difficult, the massive amounts of replies to something like "headers" that I'll start reading and after a while I don't want to mess with my car ever again! So its nice to get a fresh opinion now and then! Thanks!

Depends upon how much of a system you want. With a 350 that can turn any kind of revs (>5000), you really want to stay away from the 1-1/2" primaries of the Flowtechs and Pacesetters. But, that's where you can get coated headers w/y-pipe in the $350 range.

Hooker 2460-1's (Summit HOK-2460-1) are 1-5/8" primary, non-A.I.R., w/o y-pipe, run $340. But, you need to have a y-pipe fabricated to go with them. Hooker 2055-1's are in the $600 range, but include the y-pipe (very nice piece).

Headers is not a good place to skrimp. If you do, you're bound to regret it down the road (as I now wish I had gone down the coated route).

Is there a difference between the 2460's and the 2055's other than the ypipe? Also, If I did get the 2460s, how much should it cost to get a ypipe made or could I do it myself with universal parts?
