Import mufflers?

Not that I would ever do this, unless it was just to test and I wasnt paying for it, and it was coming off within a day, I am curious to hear 2 of those import mufflers w/ tips on a V8. Not the huge 4" or 5" tips, 3" is good. What are the differences between those mufflers, and say, a flowmaster? Anyone willing to try this just for fun? If so, take some pics and record some audio. Thanks guys, please dont shoot me!

Maybe you should re-read my original post, then answer my question accordingly. The main point of the topic is what they will sound like. It they make a freakin 4 cyl that loud, what will it do to a V8?

Those are flowmasters on the imports! I'm sure they a bit different, but really, how much?

I think they are the ones that asked the question, "I wonder how that V8 muffler would sound on my 4".

If you've ever heard a car with dumps right after the muffler, that's what it would probably sound like. Only a little louder and a lot more manly. The other thing is that it would look like crap. But it would be an interesting experiment.

well.. i did do this. my friends were really curious also. and 1 friend works at a auto zone. so we got to of them *after he got off and I made damn sure no one else was around we put them on. and just so u guys know, i have 3" cat backs on 40 series flowmasters, so my exuast is loud. well we put them on and..well.. it sounded more mellow. by that i mean u could still hear the flowmaster rumble, but it was not as loud as it normally would be. kid of like a stock exuast. how its really quiet * at idle* vs a flowmaster exaust at idle. now @ 5000+ RPMS it was all flowmaster.. it didnt matter what was on my car. it was just loud.

now. i re-read the post.. were u wondering about the whole "exuast system" of an import.. like how they have the muffler/tips combines.. or just the 4" fart pipes.. cause i just did the pipes.. not the import muffler.

A lot of the noise coming from them rice burners is the sounds of their cold air intakes. Plus, them ricers dont have much mass to them so the sound doesnt deaden as much it does on our f-body's. Just a thought, payce!

They are that loud because they are not true mufflers. Next time you see one in a parking lot, shine a flashlight inside. No restriction, just a resonator housing around the pipe.

I think they are imitation Flowmasters made by Maxwell House.
