From Exaust Man. to Headers....HELP

Hello Everyone, its great to be back after loosing my password for 2 years

Anyways. I am just finishing up putting the top end of my motor back together after putting on new vortec heads and I thought while all of that crap was out of the way I would put on a set of Hooker Headers someone gave me.

After researching the vehicle, I realized there is a whole lot of garbage that goes along with the stock exaust man. My question is this.....can I bypass all of that emissions stuff to put these headers on and still have the same quality from the vehicle or would it be better to spend the money and go with the eddlebrock headers that look like they have all of the stock hook-ups.

Please keep in mind that we do not have emissions testing down here anymore but still want my vehicle to run as perfect as it always has.....just faster. Also, this is a 1988 305 TPI Formula

If bypassing all of that garbage is possible, how would this be done.

I really appreciate any and all info you have on this project.

You can get Hooker headers with AIR and O2 Hookups. I believe the 2055s are it.

I'd get those before Edelbrock.

The TPI needs the O2 sensor. No way around that.

You need headers made specifically for a 3rd gen chassis. Hooker makes SBC headers that fit in most GM chassis, but absolutely will not fit in a 3rd gen. Make sure of what you've got before you try to install.

Thanks for the info. That answers the question. These headers DO NOT have the o2 sensors. I will look for the headers mentioned.

THanks again,
Mike
