Moving the Steering shaft
I am going to try this again. How do you move the steering shaft over so that it doesn't bump your headers? I have SLP's and I don't want to dimple them so that the steering shaft doesn't hit it. It only hits my headers on the half rounded parts. It clears on the flats. What can I do?
I had the same problem. And regardless of what other's say, its not the motor mounts - been there done that. A few people had suggested to loosen the 3 bolts at the firewall on the inside of the car and move the shaft over. That didn't work. Then I saw someone say to elongate the holes. That I didn't like. I had an old steering shaft around from when I bought a quick ratio junkyard box. I cut the shaft in half to see if it was hollow. It was solid, so I ground the area on a grinder that hit the primary on my stock shaft, and then painted it. After doing some research on the board, a few people stated that this would weaken the shaft. AIN'T NO WAY! I doubt King Kong could break it. It has no power assist. The only way it "might break" is if you hit a large enough bump or jumped the car - but your hands would break before the shaft.
