***Flomaster VS Borla***-which one??
Ok...
Here is the deal....i have a 305 with NO engine mods..just a Random Tech Cat, and a 2 chamber Flowmaster. Its really loud, and I get alot of compliments. But i heard a Borla on some other f-bodys and they sound a bit different....and if by doing this it would make it louder, then i am happier...so, my question is, should i keep my flowmaster, or if i was to get a Borla, would it be louder/throatier/deeper rumbling? I would keep my high-flow cat, and just change the muffler out. I just want to know which one to go with. Thoughts?

B/C i have 118k+ miles on that engine...and there are little things going wrong with it...at this point, i dont think its worth the work and $$ for headers. A little thing like a muffer wouldnt be that much of a PITA.

RAREROC-
What do you mean i cant just swap?? I am just looking for the muffler...not an entire catback system...just the borla muffler. I would get rid of the flowmaster, and put the borla on...i mean, why cant i do that? Does it attach specially somnehow...like with legos??
What about the cut-out pipe?
NHcamaro-
I am running stock size pipes....you shold hear how loud my exhaust is now..but i heard borla gives it a more grumbling sound...deeper and richer....thats why i just want the muffler....I dunno...

If your just getting the muffler dont get the Borla it sucks. I have the whole Borla adjustable system and when I use the block off plate to where all the exhaust goes through the muffler it sounds like crap, way quieter than my old flow master. So if their seperate muffler is the same one that comes with their catback systems dont bother.

there are no legos. and the borla muffler is not setup for dual tips. it has a one inlet one outlet muffler, and it would sound bad if you just used that.. i would stick with the flowmaster unless you can afford the catback which has a plate system

I was hoping for legos...kinda miss them
Oh well...i guess i will just stick to the system i have no...no sense in replacing a perfectly good setup entirely. I just thought that i saw in a jegs catalog or somewhere that they sold the borla muffler's...didnt know they didnt come with dual outs...its pretty gay if it doesnt unless you buy the whole freakin setup. Sucks. Oh well. thanks everyone for the input.

What I meant in my earlier post was that when I used the plate to where all the exhaust flow went through the muffler, the muffler sounded really quite. Now when I use no plate at all my exhaut is damn loud.
Sorry didnt see your last post but If you had the money and really wanted a loud system would say the switch is worth it

I didnt mean to sound like an @$$...it just sounded like you thought i had only the flowmaster on there. My mistake
Anyway, yea, i undersatnd about the plates for the exhaust....to control flow/sound. Of course, i would use none of the plates, and this is where i was wondering if the Borla was louder than what i have right now. And, i just want to purchase that Borla muffler by itself...i dont need a whole cat back system. My catalytic converter made a HUGE difference in the sound comming out of my flowmaster after i put it on....and i am sure it would do the same for teh Borla, if i can get it with a dual out like you said. So, its a good idea, i take it...if i am looking to improve my sound over my Flowmaster then....outstanding

ive never heard a borla on a 3rd gen, but i know that flowmaster sounds awesome. if you are soley conserned about nois, why dont you just get a cut out? for some reason the borla sounds more tinny to me. but that may just be the difference of LT-1 and LS-1

The Borla exhaust in Summit is only the muffler back for about $400 I believe, just spend less money on Edelbrock TES headers or SLP, that will definately help your sound, plus you say your engine has a lot of miles on it, but the headers will bolt on to a 350 as well. Just something to think about.

Yeah, Jeg's does sell Borla muffler's but I believe those are for rice burners, I could be wrong, I don't have the catalog right here.

Well thanks for all the input...but i think for now, until i get a new engine for the car, the best thing to do would be to leave the exhaust alone...b/c when i do get a new engine, it will be worked up, and it will need a larger exhaust. Thanks again for all the responses.
