what is an exhaust cutout?
I've seen the exhaust cutout that is advertised in Jeg's ( http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...%202305%202306 ), but I'm not certain about what exactly it does. Am I correct in assuming that this piece goes in between the headers and the cat so that you can run semi-open headers by pulling the little cable? Do you have to recap the exhaust by crawling under the car or can it be done with the same little cable that uncaps it? I have a Dynomax catback system for my car and I plan on putting some hedman shorty headers on it soon. I think it would be cool to be able to open up the exhaust right behind the headers on occasion. Thanks for any help in explaining this to me,

p.s. My car is a 1990 Camaro RS 305 TBI if that helps with the question any.

i think it is a little valve like a chimney, pull the cable the flapper opens....push it and it closes redirecting exhaust through mufflers
i cant see how this could help unless you are setup to run open exhaust.running full open headers will lean way way out and you will see noticable power loss too. (assuming i am right)
