why is it smoking?

i jsut got done with my header install and there was quite a bit of oil on the back of my engine do to a blown valve cover gasket, but anyway i started it up and the passenger side started smoking really bad and then when it warmed up the drivers side smoked a little. it smells like paint not oil so how long does it take to burn off the paint? also it was blowing white smoke out the back like crazy even after i let it run for about 5-10 minutes. its deffinately cold but the car is in a heated garage. is this normal or do i have a problem? also the carb probably need to be adjusted if that matters. i would just go out and drive it for 30 minutes or so but i need to wait till the snow lifts before it get it out. thanks

i dont think there is a leak anywhere unless its coming from the passenger side collector where it connects to the y pipe but i went through and tightend it down really good. car seems to be running fine, i cant drive it till the snow lifts though. it might be leaking from where the cat connects to the y pipe, the clamp i used it a little big for it.

i also forgot to add that when you shut the car off it keeps blowing a little white smoke out the back. and i used a new set of drop in manifold gaskets i had instead of the crappy flowtech header gaskets. the gaskets i used had the same size ports as the flowtechs but they were more rectangular than round, will this make any difference?

hmm it might, I know on the heddmans the tubes are round while stock manifolds are square..........round peg, square hole
I went the $$$ way and got mr gasket copper gaskets for the headers and collectors.
