How Much Do Cats Affect Performance & Sound
I am ordering a 3" cat back exhaust and I don't have a cat. So I am either going to have to get a section welded on to take the place of the cat or get a cat considering I haven't been able to pass emissions ( 5 times so far), does having a cat on the car really affect performance and sound that much , emissions isn't that big of a deal to me though, it's only $14 a month to have it tested and I'm sure eventually I can pass.

HAH! You'll never pass Maryland emissions without a cat!
Catco makes a very good, high flowing 3" inexpensive converter. It costs like $90 from Summit. My car "fast passed" Maryland's emissions test - most new cars dont do that.
BTW - I now have a straight pipe in place of the cat because of the speedbump from hell that busted up my converter. I felt no power difference and no sound difference either. When emissions comes around for me again, I will buy another Catco.

If you get a high flow cat you probably won't see any difference over the stright pipe. Although, if you get a stock converter, you should just gut it, it's much louder that way.But cats cut down on emissions a lot, I'd just get a high flow and leave it.
