To fix a hole in exhaust pipe.....help.

Ok guys,
I have a hole about the size of pea on my drivers side exit pipe.
What can I use to fix it?

Would this JB Weld product I have heard about work?
How about fixing a slight leak around one of the muffler exits?
I had the car's exhaust looked at and while they were looking, they wiggled it so much, it developed a leak.
Help. Thanks

You can usually get away with (depending on the space around the leak) buying some thin sheet metal and wrapping it around the hole. Then tighten it down with muffler clamps.

Good Luck

I would buy some exhaust tape ($3), wrap it and then put a band clamp on it, won't even cost over 10 bucks, i don't think anyway.

You can buy muffler repair tape, it works ok for a little while but it's ugly, if it was mine I would just go ahead and get a new system, seems like once you fix one little hole more show up soon and your exhaust ends up looking like swiss cheese.

I'm surprised nobody's suggested a flattened coffee can and hose clamps yet.

(I've seen this done, it's not pretty. )

That's pretty much what I was talking about earlier. Just scratch the hose clamp part. Use muffler clamps. Just cut a section of the coffee can out that'll wrap around the pipe. Use the circumference formula, Diam.X Pi. Just add about a 1/4" for overlap.

I dund it B4! It'll work fine for now until you get the $$$ to buy new. The time I did it, it lasted about 2 yrs.

l wouldnt use exhaust tape, its ok if its your daily driver, but if you want it to look/sound decent do it the right way. if you can get a blue wrench on it, cut out a large section of the pipe and if youre any good at welding, weld in a section to replace it, you shouldn't have to replace the whole exhaust system, unless it should be replaced. patching an exhaust with exhaust tape, in my opinion, is like pouring in engine "stop leak" to fix your 350 TPI's leaky mains or something. it's sort of half assed so to speak. hope this helps a little, good luck with it.
