3 inch or 3.5 inch?

I just a full an exhust on my car about a week ago. Well I just noticed that my intermediate pipe has a nice size hole in it. So I was thinkin whut size pipe should I get for best sound and performance. Here is what I got. 305 TBI, Hedman Short Block Headers, High Flow Cat, 2.5 inch Intermdediate pipe. Flow masters 80 series. I was thinking of 3.5, but my friend told me that is over kill for a 305. Any Idea. Also I dont like the look of big tips, is there any thing I can do besides tips? I am tired of seeing those UGLY tail pipes. Thanks

3.5 is overkill for some 350s. I wouldn't go over 3" for a 305, and even that can be pushing it sometimes.
