Manifold operating tempertures?

I plan to use the stock exhaust manifolds until I have the cash for headers and Y-pipe. However these manifolds are ugly as hell. I would like to paint them but Im worried that the paint will boil off instantly. Would 1200* paint work? It says it can be used on exhaust componants. Would paint made for barbeque grills be alright? Thanks for any help.

I just finished painting my manifolds. I used the VHT high temp paint made for exhausts. The manifolds look brand new and after a bit of driving the paint seems to be holding up. They were smoking a bit at startup though. I think the paint will stay on.

I used 1500 degree paint on headers one time and they didn't stop smoking till the paint was completely burned off. But I've painted Manifolds with the 1200 degree paint and they held up for about 6,000 miles they still looked O.K..... they would've held up longer If I hadn't wrecked my car .
