AIR or Not? Please read
Alright. I've heard all kinds of different answers to this question. If i get rid of the AIR tubes on the camaro, will it run right and pass emissions? I've heard that it will pass smog, but if a technician looks at it and sees no tubes that it will fail. the reason i ask is i don't want to spend the money for headers with air built in. Thanx.
If you have a visual in your area, you will fail. Pretty simple.

if your engine is in perfect running order it should pass. ANY engine will pass if its running right. that means its getting the right amount of fuel spark and not burning oil. a guy around here built a 454 w/o the smog junk and passed with flying colors.
Actually, you can get by a visual inspection without it. It just depends on specifically what they look for. We have a visual and dyno emissions test here, but the visual is limited to looking for a cat and checking for a gas cap. Other than that, it's cool with them as long as it passes the sniffer. Find out what they look for in the visual and use that as a guide.
