Flowmaster Questions

Just a couple of Flowemaster Questions.

IT SAYS ON THE FLOWMASTER WEBSITE THAT THE
40 SERIES MUFFLER HAS THE OLDER MUSCLE CAR
TONE TO IT, YA KNOW././ THE DEEP RUMBLE ETC.
BUTTTTT HOWEVER.. THE 80 SERIES MUFFLER IS THE ONE THAT IS MORE DESIGNED FOR OUR FIREBIRDS AND CAMAROS..
SOMEONE ELSE ON HERE ASKED ON A PREVIOUS POST WILL THE 40 SERIES WORK ON OUR CARS.. AND REALLY DIDNT GET A DIRECT ANSWER.
I DIDNT SEE A 40 SERIES WITH TWO OUTS FROM ONE MUFFLER SET UP LIKE THE 80 SERIES IS TO WORK FOR OUR CARS..
IS THERE ONE? AND/OR CAN YOU HAVE TWO 40 SERIES MUFFLERS AND RUN TRUE DUALS BACK OR DO WE NOT HAVE ENOUGH CLEARANCE ON OUR CARS TO RUN TRUE DUALS?

(2) SHOULD I JUST HOLLOW OUT MY EXISTING CAT OR GET A AFTERMARKET PERFORMANCE CAT?? ARE THEY VERY EXPENSIVE????

As for a cat, if you are redoing your entire exhaust you can get a 14" 3"diameter catco for 45...the 40 series, again, they dont make one that can be mounted in our OE location but as i told the previous questioner, if you really want the 40 im positive you can get a muffer shop to make it work, for a price, and hell, you might get lucky and it fits easy i dont really know for sure never tried, but if you want to be sure that it will fit, go with the 80. true duals...ive heard different deffinitions of this and if you mean true duals as in two pipes, very possible if you run them side by side...if you mean two pipes straight back from the headers...all sorts of clearance problems, look under your car and you will see what i mean...hope this helped a little

you can use a 40 series flowmaster but youll only have one tail pipe. take the origan muffler of and replace it with a 40 series of the same pipe diameter then have your local exhaust shop bend a tail pipe for it

Ive got true dual 3" here with flowmaster 2-chamber 40 series mufflers. I love the sound, and the lowest clearance point of my whole system is 4" from the pavement.

well that is good, i wonder, did they have different underbodies (hmmm whatever this is called, the metal under the car that keeps everything inside inside, maybe you know what i mean) on different thirdgens, because on mine my drivers side everything hangs down very low as it is...

From experience I have to say that the 80 series has a nice deep rumble to it. It is pretty loud, but not quite loud enough for me. I can highly recommend it though.

You're wrong. i have a 40 series flowmaster on my car now and i've got the dual tailpipes. It IS the crossflow style and yes, it does have that musclecar tone to it. Sounds sweeeeeeet.

i have 40 series as well with a pipe on each side. i was going to go with Borla for my car *putting in a 406* but after reviewing the flow #'s with Borla, Flowmaster and Dynomax and all the others.. Borlas were just BARELY better then flowmasters. so im going to just go with a new 40 Series muffler for less then $100 vs Borla's for $525 *jegs/summit*
