bullet mufflers and cali smog

bullet mufflers and cali smog

if i get a setup with headers to y pipe to cat to bullet mufflers will i still pass smog. the system will end rite in front of the rear tires. any help is appreciated. so come on you smog check people help me out. thanks

The "smog" part ends at the outlet to the cat. The only reason they might squawk beyond that is getting a good sniffer reading (too many holes in exhaust, for instance).

For safety reasons, most states have laws saying the exhaust must exit beyond the passenger compartment. Your proposed setup may or may not meet the intrepretation of that. Personally, I see it reducing ground clearance unnecessarily, and producing objectionable noise inside the car. But, you won't have a problem from a smog standpoint.

how is it reducing ground clearance unnecessarily? just wondering not trying to put you down or anything

In order to get it to exit right in front of the rear tires, you're going to have to go below body/structure. Therefore, reduced ground clearance.

It didn't cause me any problems when I had my '57 exhaust routed like that. Different story trying it on a 3rd gen.

the ehaust will go through my side effects so it looks hella smooth like the racing corvettes or vipers it will look sick im just worried about smog mostly and alil about ground clearnce

Id really like to see that happen...Many people have come on here asking about putting it though the side effects...In order to do that you have to go way low to clear everything and then come back up to go through the effects...So ground clearance is still non-exhistant
