need help installing exhaust
I am replacing the exhaust on my 88 sc. What do I have to do to get the intermediate pipe out in one piece? All I can think of from looking at it and failing to remove it this afternoon, is to get the car high enough to work the pipe out. I need to get the pipe out in one piece cause obviously I'll need it in a similar position to put the new pipe in. Would it make enough difference to remove the rear braces?

"New pipe"? What is it, exactly? Most aftermarket pipes have a joint just in front of the axle.
But, I have done this. My first exhaust was a take-off from a GTA, and was all welded together, from cat to tail pipes. Remove the right-side tire, lower control arm, shock, park brake cable, and track arm. The exhaust will all slide out with the car no more than a foot off the ground.

Thanks for the tip I'll give it a try in the morning. I bought a dynomax cat-back from summit. The pipe is all one piece and bent to shape just like the stock pipe.

Probably all you need to do is get the rear tires about 8" off the ground with the axle hanging (jack stands on the frame) & remove the pass side lower shock bolt with a jack under the axle & lower that side down, watching the brake hose & park brake cable that they don't stretch too far. The pipe should go over the axle then.
