Need help on Headers???
Need help on Headers???
I was just wondering what headers is the easiest to install on my 91RS TBI 5.0 V8 Camaro? I was planning to install Hooker 2460 Headers but I'm not sure if I can do it whithout any major modification. If you have any suggestion pls. help. Your ideas will be greatly appreciated

Installation is a pain on just about any header. Just set enough time aside to remove the old system and enough time in case a problem should arise. Also, the 2460's do not come with a Y-pipe you'll have to fab one up. I dont have those on my car but if u need any info I can give you general help. The hardest part for me was gettin the old system off (12 hrs). The headers were a snap once I had it all out.

The 2460's are definately not the right way to go if you want to avoid major modification, since, as SC says, no y-pipe is available. The 2055's have the y-pipe, A.I.R. tubes, and O2 bung. But, the y-pipe is 3" at the cat, so you'll have to use a 3" cat or get an adapter made. Still, that's not what I would call "major", and is better for performance, anyway.

I have the 2460s on my 86 Camaro. The major part was snaking them in. I believe the driver's side was straightforward (except for the brake lines which needed a bit of bending) but the passenger side required moving the fuel line over a bit. Still, there was no problem with spark plug clearances or the steering column being in the way, which many other header sets have serious problems with.
Overall, the Hooker Shorties are excellent headers. Still, you will have to have a y-pipe fabricated, which is the same thing for many others. It is nothing major so just get it done up at the local muffler shop.
