Cat back question

Why do people buy prefabed cat back systems?
Why not just go to the local muffler shop and have the fab you up some exhaust??? Seems to me the cost would be about the same.

I thought of that but the cost wasn't even close. My local muffler shop (name withheld) fabbed up a true dual exhaust for my bro's 87 Monte Carlo SS, which included hacking off the cat for $450. I paid $149 for my Dynomax cat-back setup. Installation was done at the same shop for only $45. I think I got a better deal than my bro. $194 vs $450
