Not my Bird but I need help.

I am trying to remove the cat off my 93 Chevy Truck (4.3 V6 Full size) and ran into some problems you guys may be able to help me with. First: I unbolted the exaust system from the cat back BUT I can't get the freaken cat off for the life of me. The tubbing from the cat slides inside my exaust tubbing and wont let go. I have banged, pulled, pryed, cussed, prayed, and yet nothing! ok Second: I figured since I can't get the cat off I will unbolt if from my headers and work from there. While atempting that I noticed springs on the bolts holding the headers to the exaust and the more I lossend the tighter the springs seemed to get. WTF is that? I didn't take them off for one I didn't know if I could get them back on with the funky springs and all. I have pulled about every muscle I can think of and ones I didn't even know I had. So if you know a trick PLEASE help me out here.

PS. I know it's not a 3rd gen but it's kind of an emergency.

did you try lube? spray some wd-40 or some penetrant in the seam. i just took my Y pipe off and and had to unbolt my cat with it and was swearin up a storm..then sprayed it and started wobbling and it slid out. if you have access...i would heat it with a torch

Does the cat have a air tube going to it??

Should be a small about 1/2" tube running into the cat on the side.

If you have this tube.... it is more than likely welded to the cat.
You'll need to cut that tube to get the cat off.

Naa, no air tube it's just the tube holding it on and it's holding it very very well.
