Off-road pipe...
I was thinking of getting an off-road pipe made for my car to replace the intermediate pipe. That way I can take off the cats at the track. I planned to have one connection right before my cut-out before the right rear tire and one after the y-pipe. The only problem I see now is how to make it so I can disconnect the AIR lines from the cat easily. Anyone have any ideas?
Dont make the off-road pipe that big, just go to a single cat setup with an slp/edelbrock y-pipe and flange the cat and a similar length of 3"pipe (about 18" long). Thats what i did. The stock dual cat setup is a PITA to begin with - converting to a single cat was the best thing i ever did (especially with the test pipe in place of the cat)

An alternative would be a cut-out in each down-pipe each about the same distance from the manifold/collector. Only down-side is you'd have to jack the car up to get to the cut-out (unless you went electric). But, you'd have to jack it up to do this "off road" pipe, anyway.

Yea I just wanted to flange it on so I can just unbolt the pipe with the cat and bolt in a pipe with no cat. The only problem I saw was with the air lines. How do you make those detachable?

With an A.I.R. repair kit. Comes with some high-temp silicone rubber hose and clamps. I picked mine up from Checker (ain't cheap, about $20). Then, just undo the hose clamp, slide off the tube, hook up your off-road tube.

O cool! So I would just cut the air lines then use the AIR repair kit to attach them again? That way I just disconnect the AIR tubes by taking off the clamps and pull the lines out of the rubber connector?

if you do that, do you need to worry about blocking off the air tube where you disconnect, or is it ok to run with it just hanging out there?
