Just called a place that wants $185 for the cat, and 1.9 hours labor just for the cat. What the heck ?

than normal. Yeah, really.. I just took off my y pipe and paid the guy 20 bucks to cut it off and enlarge the end so I could slide my new y pipe in, then I clamped it on and bolted it to you i pipe. Worked great.
its not a 10 minute job.... but its not exactly a 2 hour job, thats really pushing it, l'd say its more or less a 45-50 minute job. they make it a little longer just incase they run into problems, but 2 hours is really out of the ordinary. it takes awhile to heat up the bolts and the clamp, and it takes some time to whack the converter off one side of the pipe, and on the other side too, (lm assuming you have a slip-on cat) then its pretty much the reverse process after that. l'd say 45-50 minutes, an hour at the most.
