What make of headers to get ?

Hi

I have a 305 TBI and would like to know what are the best headers to get.

Do all headers come with a y-pipe ? Also do all y-pipes hang low on our cars ?

My exhaust mods so far are a cat-back which is the same size as a GTA's system (2.75") and the cat has been removed.

Thanks
Geoff

My Edelbrock TES headers are coming today and im putting them on this weekend with a new 3" Catco and Hooker CatBack.
The TES headers are a good choice because i have heard that they are relatively easy to install and are only 315 a pair. If money is not an option, then go with SLP but be willing to spend about 200 more. if you go with the TES headers you might want to jet hot coat them but thats an addition 200. With SLP you probably wont have to do any coating because they of their satinless steel construction. Im just going to put some high heat paint on my headers and just hope that it lasts for a while. I also bought some Fel-Pro gaskets, and Stage 8 locking bolts because i heard that the paper gaskets and bolts that come with the set suck.

You can also search this board for answers, just type in TES headers, SLP , or Hooker and you can probably spend about an hour or two reading all the posts

oh yeah, and TES and SLP both come with a Y-pipe.
also you should get 1 5/8, the y pipe to the cat openings vary, TES's have a 3 inch opening, and i believe SLP have 2.25 and 2.5 inch openings,

Where oh where is Kevin :P SLP is the best, "edelcrock" (as Kevin calls them) are decent. You should check out this post of his:
https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/002680.html

Anyway, I REALLY think that a poll would be appropriate for this, maybe "what is the best?", and "what do you use?" And make each header have a separate part for coated and w/wout air. We need a list of the most popular headers before we can get it going, I know we can do this.
