Cat adaptation

When I buy The Hooker 2055s for my 84 camaro and want to keep my stock converter for a short term longer what adapter do I use. Is it 23/4 to 21/2 I know stock converter is 21/4 slip in and 23 inches long whereas tpi cat 20 5/8 inches long and slips over 3inch pipe

Well the 2055 y pipe is 3" outlet diameter, and I think the stock cat is 2 1/4". I don't really know because I've never had a cat on mine when it was stock (thanks to previous owner), but I know the stock I-pipe diameter was 2 1/4".
