Question on catalytic converter

My stock converter doesn't have a hose coming out of it. The smog pump pushes directly into the exhaust manifolds. I got a set of Dynomax Cerama-coat headers and don't want to drill them if I can. Can the hoses coming off of the diverter valve be put into a "T" pipe and then run straight to my new catalytic converter? The new cat has an air hose on it.

Thanks,
Matt

You should have gotten headers with the A.I.R. pipes already welded in.

I'm a little surprised to hear you don't have A.I.R. going to the cat. What year/drivetrain is your car? It's not Canadian, is it?

FWIW, my '84 full-size van has the pipes to the manifolds only as well. When I flunked emissions back in February, I put on a universal cat that had the A.I.R. pipe on it. I just kept it capped, passed with flying colors with the new cat. Runs better, too.
