best headers for 83 5.0
you can always get some hedman headers without smog equipment for around $100 I think. They have them at jcwhitney.com

Hedman part #68481 comes with the y-pipe and some other bits. These are for the 5.7 TPI and they are not expensive. Don't get anything that is specifically made for an LG4. There are a couple posts in the archives that explain why you should not.
The only problem with these headers is that they came with AIR fittings so we had to cut the tubes out and patch the holes. My 83TA has no ECM so the O2 sensor fitting had to be plugged as well.
They went on w/out too much trouble and the flanges seem to fit good. If I had to do it again though I'd probably buy the non-emissions Hedmans and a separate Hedman y-pipe if you can do that.
