Muffler for the beater

I'm sorry this doesn't really have anything to do with a thirdgen (save that I own one ) but I think you guys know more than anyone else. I want to do a little sound moding to the beater and a muffler is it. The beater: a 88 Nissan 200sx v6. I want a straight through universal muffler that will make it sound like it has as much guts as a v6 possibly can have. But its a beater so cheap is the way I'm going. Who makes gutsy sounding mufflers for a v6? Has anyone tried those cheap $20 mufflers from summit? Gimme your opinions, and please refrain from bashing the beater...give it a break....its a Nissan and jealous (as it should be) of the Iroc.

flowmaster 40 series, loud tone,

dynomax, turbo muffler, mellow tone, not as loud as a flowmaster.

or you could go with a Cherrybomb, it sound mellow on my car when i had it, but sounded good.

I have an MP3 of my exhaust.

If you want high flowing, then flowmaster probably isnt the way to go, its basicaly a sound chamber, any muffler that has straight through technology will make some power, it just might not sound as good. try magnaflow mufflers.

My beater-'90 pont 6,000,000(yes I added more zeros)w/ a 3.1, sounded poor with the brand new replacement cat back the dealer out on, so i cut off the muffler, put on an adapter from 2 to 2 1/4, a 2 1/4 thrush turbo muffler, and a 2 1/2 pipe straight out under the bumper. Had to rig hangers, but it idles and cruises bad@$$, but under load doesn't sound as great. I'm still happy with the result.

if you going to spend 20 bucks plus s&h just get a cherry bomb at VIP or something..also I dont know if you have them where you live but tireware house has some cheap turbo mufflers...cherry bomb with no cat would give it a loud sound

Breathment has a good point. I do want some performance out the beater, but I'll sacrafice the performance exhaust for the sound in this case. I've heard some Flowmasters on V6's and they sound pretty mean and chunky. That's what I'm looking for, with the exception of the price. So anybody know a cheaper muffler that sounds good....or a cheap place for Flowmaster? I think it was the 40 series.
