will an 86 header/y-pipe fit my 83 camaro??

will an 86 header/y-pipe fit my 83 camaro??

i've called jegs/summit and they say there are no headers w/y-pipe that support a 3 inch system on my car.....WELL WHAT THE ___.

all you guys have 3".....the one guy at j&l performance said that hes got an 86 setup that is 3"...and he asked ME if it would fit my car...of coarse i dont know....i think he was trying to sell me some edelbrocks...listen.....can you guys help...this is turning into hell...

i have an 83 camaro..305..(mild.) waiting for some upgrades...(exhaust first)

i want a 3" connection to the cat.....i have no exhaust on the car at all right now....

any part numbers or ideas...anything...

i have about $400-500 to spend on headers and a y-pipe....no muffler shop wants to bend me a pipe...they say its not what the car came with !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't order it for an '83. What they're trying to do is keep you from ordering the headers and then complaining that they don't fit to your stock cat.

Order the '86-later TPI that comes with the 3" connection to the cat (Edelbrock, Hedman, Hooker, whatever you want). Then get a 3" high-flow cat and cat-back to match to it.

Muffler shops have gotten pretty **** about anything in front of the cat outlet. I was told I couldn't bring a new cat in for them to install because they "couldn't be sure it was the correct part unless they installed their own." Translation: they want the markup on the parts.

Idles smooth @ 600 RPM in D. Best 15.02/95.06 @ 5800' Bandimere (corrected 13.93/102.4 @ sea level).

ok...that makes sense.....edelbrock tes( EDL-6872) is the system im looking for... for a (now) mild 305..i dont plan on building super horse but.. hey....its something i want for the beast ....yeah...i had 4 muffler shops tell me they couldnt do it.....becuase they wouldnt know ...and they told me I COULDNT EVEN HAVE 3"....soo...ill have to find someone to weld the cat up.....
