i want to put on edelbrock headers with a 3" y pipe, then put it to my 2.5" cat back, my question is do they make a cat that is 3" in, 2.5" out, or do i need a converter of some sort

You get a 3" in/out converter, then get a 3" > 2.5" reducer to connect to your exhaust. Or upgrade your exhaust to 3".

I have 2.25" I pipe right now. When I got my headers and saw how big 3" really is I was thinking "I'm an idiot, I should have finished the catback first" I promply started looking for a 3" I pipe and found it at dynomax for $120.
